Introduce yourself to the Little Blonde Habits readers
Hi Little Blonde Habits readers! I’m very excited to be sharing this interview with you today, and letting you get to know me a bit better! My name is Danielle and I am the blogger behind the New York-based life and style blog, Pineapple & Prosecco.
Denim is my all-time favorite clothing piece and I admittedly have way too many pairs of jeans. I’m addicted to Tate’s chocolate chip cookies, and I can rap just about any Nicki Minaj verse you throw at me. Nice to meet you!
Have you always loved writing and what made you want to pursue it, as a career?
Writing has always been something I’ve had a knack for, but to be honest, I didn’t really know that I loved it until I started blogging. For so much of my life, writing was equated with schoolwork, and therefore always felt like a task. As I started toying around with the idea of starting a blog, I quickly learned how much I truly enjoyed it. Now, I spend a good amount of time editing down my blog posts because I truly could just write on forever.
What made you want to start blogging?
I had just made a career change and was intermittently doing consulting on the side that involved a lot of design work. Web design had always been a hobby of mine, so one day, I made the decision to stop doing it for my clients and start doing it for myself! Developing my brand and determining my niche took some time. I wanted to do it right from the start, so I didn’t ‘jump right in’ as most people do. After careful research, planning, and with a set of marketing strategies in place, I finally launched my blog! Pineapple & Prosecco has been nonstop ever since!
Did you have any fears about breaking into the blogging world? Any tips for those trying to take that leap?
Honestly, no, I didn’t have many fears about breaking into the blogging world. I think one of the best and worst things about the blogging world is how incredibly vast it is. I love that because it really shows you that anyone could create a platform for themselves and find a niche. On the other hand, the competition to succeed can be one of the toughest parts of blogging. What I’ve learned is that over time, you will develop an audience who adores your content, but you will never be everyone’s cup of tea, and you have to be okay with that.
What’s the single most important thing you’ve learned from building a successful blog empire?
First off, I love that you refer to it as an empire. I would consider my business far from that, but it’s certainly a goal of mine! The single most important thing I’ve learned from building a successful brand is consistency. For many people, blogging often starts out as a hobby; you publish a post here and there, develop a small social media following and ride all of the ups and downs that come with blogging. However, if you want to build something truly successful (and I’m talking something you can consider your source of income), you need to be consistent. Whether it’s your content, posting schedule, social media presence, ability to network or brand relationships, keeping it consistent and staying true to your brand is soimportant!
Do you have any style and beauty tips for girls who are busy? Obviously, your blog and exciting life must keep you pretty busy!
I am certainly busy, but it’s not all as glamorous as it looks! I get home from work, throw my hair up in a bun and put on my sweats. If I have an event in the middle of a busy week or am looking for something quick and easy on the go, I always stick to the basics with one stand-out item. For example, I love the look of jeans and a white tee, with a great pair of shoes or a bold accessory. I am a firm believer that less is truly more!
As for beauty, when I’m in a rush, it’s all about a great glow for me. I (almost) never leave home without my Josie Maran illuminizer. It’s a great way to create that ‘woken-up’, dewy look in a matter of seconds. I mix one pump of it in with my foundation before I apply. If I’m not wearing foundation that day, I’ll use it to highlight my cheekbones, nose and upper lip.
What are some of your all-time favorite beauty products?
I have always stayed very true to my beauty favorites. Every once in a while, I’ll find a new product I love and add it to the mix, but the one’s I have always gone back for are the illuminizer I mentioned above, NARS Casino Bronzer, and anything + everything coconut-based for my skin. I’m currently loving Kopari’s Coconut Melt!
What are you working on now? Any special projects we should be looking out for?
Oh, I’m working on so many things (almost too many things!) I have a really fun event coming up this summer that I’m hosting with some of my favorite bloggers in New York City, which I’m probably most excited about. As for blog content, I’m getting ready to launch a new series on Pineapple & Prosecco called “Behind the Blog”, where I’ll share all kinds of experience-based tips from social media growth, to securing brand partnerships, web design tips and more!
Isn’t she cool!
