So, I’m starting an interview series this summer with some of my favorite bloggers!
It’s going to be called the Boss Babe Interview Series and it will feature bloggers and entrepreneurs from all over.
If you have any particular blogger you would like to see interviewed, please let me know and I will try my best to get a hold of them!
This post is going to be about Mattea LinAe of mattealinae.com
Let’s start with a little introduction from Mattea!
Introduce yourself to the Little Blonde Habits readers
Hi there! My name is Mattea LinAe and I’m a 20 year old fashion and lifestyle blogger. I’m halfway through undergrad at Saint Louis University, and I’m studying Entrepreneurship and Marketing.
Have you always loved photography and what made you want to pursue it, as a career?
I picked up my first real camera in March of 2014 when I started my blog. I was a junior in high school, and I knew the value of generating quality images to help portray my ideas, stories, and creativity. As my blog grew, I began photographing friends and learned how to pose them. I quickly figured out how much I loved to work with people and how amazing it was to capture raw emotion, so I quickly grew quite fond of photography.
At this point in my life, I’m still really young and have a lot of time to figure out exactly what I want to do with my life. I don’t know if I’ll end up pursuing photography as a career, but I do know that I’ll probably be doing photography until my fingers can no longer push the shutter!
What made you want to start blogging?
I discovered the world of blogging as a junior in high school (3 years ago). I went from wanting to be an attorney, to wanting to pursue my love for the fashion industry. I wasn’t sure how to break into the industry, but I read on Fashionista.com that having a blog was pretty much a must. I launched the next day.
Did you have any fears about breaking into the blogging world? Any tips for those trying to take that leap?
I honestly didn’t! I just jumped in. And that’s what I would recommend to any future bloggers. Just dive in. You’ll learn a lot just by doing. And it doesn’t matter who reads your posts or how many followers you have. Everyone moves at their own pace and I honestly feel like my mom and sister were the only ones reading my blog in the beginning. You’ll meet other bloggers as you go and gain valuable insight the more you allow yourself to connect with others.
What’s the single most important thing you’ve learned from building a successful blog image?
Create for the right reasons. Create content that matters to you. Who cares if someone disagrees with you? It’s hard to make it in the blogging world, but I also believe that there’s room for everyone. I personally believe that blogging is an amazing form of self-expression, and the internet is pretty infinite, if you ask me. So support others, and create posts about things that actually matter rather than just posting a picture of pretty clothes.
Do you have any style or beauty tips for girls who are busy?
I seriously do the same makeup routine every day, whether I’m shooting or just going to class. I like my instagram and blog pictures to look how I do in real life, so I try and go pretty natural with my makeup, but still well done. I always carry a go-to lipstick for a pick me up, and q-tips in case my mascara starts to smudge and I need to quickly freshen up my eye makeup as the day goes on.
It all starts with skincare! Here are my go-to acne-preventing tips:
Change your pillowcase at least once a week. Use image skincare face wash. Always take your makeup off before bed. Wash your face or use toner water after you take your makeup off at night. One makeup remover wipe will NOT do the job! Eat pretty healthy and drink lots of water. Wear sunscreen everyday (I use one from Image Skincare that smells amazing and was recommended to me by my aesthetician).
Obviously, your blog and exciting life must keep you pretty busy! What do you do to stay in shape?
It sure does! I’ve recently fallen in love with yoga. It’s surprisingly relaxing and inspiring and keeps my creative juices rolling. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it! I also started circuit training. I rotate between quick runs, abs circuits, leg work, and arms and keep repeating. I do this because I get bored easily and I like to switch things up! Circuit training is more exciting than just a long run and it goes by pretty quickly!
What are you working on now? Any special projects we should be looking out for?
Right now I’m taking a step back from sponsored posts! I’m so inspired right now and I want to share what I’ve been thinking lately, as opposed to just accepting collaborations all the time. I’m so selective in what I choose to write about, and I want it to really resonate with people. This summer will probably be full of more inspiring posts as opposed to just fashion….but there will still be fashion!
Isn’t she amazing!
