Gemma Pranita on Blogging, Traveling, and Beauty Tips

April 8, 2016

Hey there Babes!

So, as a blogger, I think it is important to read and discover as many other blogs as possible.

I am always stumbling upon new sites, most of the time just randomly, that have amazing content that I never would have know about otherwise.

One blog that I have been following for about half a year now, The Gemma Peanut Gallery, is one of my favorites.

If you haven’t visited the site, hop over there sometime!

The site is part travel blog, part style blog, and part diary. Gemma fills the site with beauty and life advice, interviews with style muses (Margot Robbie, Claire Holt, and Teresa Palmer to name a few), and beautiful photographs.

Gemma, herself, is a blogger, photographer, and actress (she worked on the Australian TV show, Neighbors)

The photos she takes are absolutely breathtaking. She has a way of capturing something in a way that transports the viewer into the photograph.

Just so you can get a visual of what I am talking about, some of my favorite photo’s she has taken are below. (note: it was very hard to choose just a few because all of her photos are AMAZING!)

Anyways, why am I telling you about this amazing blog and blogger?

Last week, the idea of interviewing someone for LBH popped into my head. I was racking my brain to figure out who to interview, and then it hit me. I had just emailed Gemma, regarding some photography work, and I thought “oh my gosh, she’d be perfect!”.

I was so excited when she emailed me the next day, saying that she would love to be interviewed.

I, of course, asked her about blogging tips and other topics, such as traveling and beauty (it was really hard picking questions to ask because there are ALWAYS more questions that pop up).

So, here is my interview with Gemma Pranita!

Introduce yourself to the Little Blonde Habits readers 🙂

Gemma Pranita: I’m an actor, photographer, blogger and part time gypsy wanderer. I’m the kind of girl who likes to wear lipstick and play in the mud!

Have you always loved photography and what made you want to pursue it, as a career?

GP: I only discovered photography 3 years ago. I fell into it completely by accident. It’s one of those passions that found me and took hold. I couldn’t ignore the unexpected creative spark I had with photography so I’ve been pursuing it professionally ever since.

What made you want to start blogging?

GP: My blog came out of a place of complete despair. I had hit a version of rock bottom in my life. I didn’t know who I was or where I was going. The future was cloudy. So starting a blog became the perfect distraction. And today it is my personal sacred space of self expression.

You did some acting, before you started blogging. How did you get into that?

GP: I always wanted to pursue acting. I’m a story teller by nature and performing just hit the spot. It all started when I discovered Shakespeare at the age of 12 and my love affair began. So when I finished school I studies acting full time for 3 years at WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts). It was the most incredible experience and upon graduating, I was lucky enough to be signed to a manager.

Did you have any fears about breaking into the blogging world? Any tips for those trying to take that leap?

GP: Yes there was a little fear. I feared that people would judge me and think that blogging about my life was very self indulgent. But I’ve learned to get over that because I blog from a place of love and honesty and it has allowed me to connect with so many people all over the world. I love sharing stories and in turn I get to hear other people’s stories when one of my blog posts strikes a chord with them. It’s been fab!

As someone who new bloggers look up to, who are some of your role models?

GP: There are so many. And every different role model I look up to enriches a different area of my life. At the moment I’m a huge fan of Jessica Stein of Tuula Vintage (for her epic and stylish globe trotting adventures) and Melissa Ambrosini (for her words of wisdom and teachings on self love). My mum is also one of my biggest role models. I hope to be half the mother she is when I have a family of my own one day.

You travel a lot! Out of all the places you’ve been, where have been some of your favorites?

GP: I have been fortunate enough to have visited 36 countries. It’s so hard to choose as every country is the keeper of a major life highlight. But if I had to pick my top three I’d say Croatia, Bolivia and Guatemala.

Do you have any healthy lifestyle tips for girls who are busy? Obviously, your blog and exciting life must keep you pretty busy! What do you do to stay in shape?

GP: Oh gosh I’m the worst person to ask this question. Haha. I’m forever on the quest to improve my health and fitness because I’m rubbish at it. I’ve failed miserably at sticking to any fitness routine. I’m not a fan of exercise at all and I envy women who love it. I guess I manage to stay in shape because I’m naturally active. I’m always walking, hiking and exploring different neighborhoods and as a photographer, you’re on your feet all day. Let’s just say my curiosity of the world is what keeps me fit.

What about beauty tips?

GP: Whilst I suck at maintaining an exercise routine, I am definitely good at sticking to a beauty routine. I wear moisturizer and sunscreen every day and use a gentle exfoliator on my face 3 times a week. And when it comes to make up, less it more! I always feel that too much make up ages you. Nothing beats a fresh face straight out of the surf!

I LOVE the photos you take! They are so full of life and energy. What inspires you to take a photo?

GP: THE WORLD! I have a hawk eye to detail. Even a tiny flower on the side of a pavement can catch my eye. Travel is definitely the fuel for my inspiration. I think because I know I may never get a chance to return so I have to immortalize the moments through photographs.

Isn’t she awesome, babes!
