Some of you (who’ve been reading the blog for over a month) may get this post notification and be like, “What?! She ACTUALLY posted twice this week! And todays in a row! What is this nonsense!?”
Yeah, so now that I’ve gotten my whole image thing out of the way, it’s a little bit more fun (and easier) to post more often. Like, I don’t have to worry about editing images to go on social media and deciding what information to include in what post.
I don’t know if that makes sense, but yeah….there it is.
Anyways, back to the post.
If you live….well…basically anywhere in the Unites States, you know that the weather has been and is really gross right now.
It’s all rainy and gloomy outside, and just kind of depressing.
On days like this, I like to curl up under my blankets with a good book (or a kindle, in my case)
Now, I’m always up to read a good book, but there are specific books that are just better on rainy days (any mystery is usually a fantastic bet and the dark weather just emphasizes all the creepy things that happen in the book)
These are my favorite Rainy-Day reads.
So, I am OBSESSED with assassinations, particularly this one. There are just a lot of things that don’t make sense about it, but I won’t get into that (believe me, I can REALLY get into this one, but I don’t want to spend my whole post ranting 🙂). It’s a really interesting story and, because it tells it from the killers point-of-view, it’s a little more intriguing. It puts you in his shoes and goes into what he may have been thinking. I think it’s interesting to hear the rationale and the ideas in the killer’s head.
This is a completely different kind of book. It’s written by fashion blogger, Garance Dore. It’s kind of a memoir, mixed with a style guide. She writes in a lot of humor and personality, so it’s like she’s speaking to you. Of course, I love this book. Keep in mind, I’m a fashion merchandising major and a blogger, so I do identify with certain thing she says and the way she writes. I think it’s a great read for anyone who is interested in fashion, or just wants a funny and stylish read.
Don’t judge me on this one! I, recently, started re-reading the Harry Potter series. I feel like I’ve seen the movies a bunch of times, but have only skimmed through the books. They’re perfect rainy-day books, with all the darkness and magic that goes on. It has a great mix of drama and humor, plus, they’re pretty interesting stories. I know a bunch of you probably already know the story, but a lot of things were changed from the book to the movies. Just something to think about.
I LOVE this book! It’s all about the habits and traits of great entrepreneurs. It goes through different characteristics and beliefs that you should have to be successful, in any business. It’s a great read for everyone, especially bloggers. I think there’s something for everyone in this book. Whether you’re just looking for life strategy, or actual business strategy. The concepts in this book can be applied anywhere.
Alright, so those are my favorite reads.
Now, I’m also going to add two books that I haven’t read yet, but they are on the top of my “To-Read” list.
I have heard RAVING reviews about this book. It’s all about a drug war, and escaped prisoner, and an ex-DEA agent. It looks like such a great read and I am so excited to start it. I’ll probably read it over winter break, so I can finish it. I feel like it’s not the kind of book you just read one chapter and then go about your busy life.
Again, another book that I have heard such good things about. The mystery of a missing wife, whose murder is pinned on her husband. Except, he seemingly has no idea where she is or what has happened to her. This one, especially, looks like a great rainy-day kind of read. It’s got that dark and mysterious feel to it. Again, I will probably start this over winter break, after the other one.
Well, that’s it for this post. My next one should be coming out later this week.
Oh, one other announcement. Depending on what my final exam schedule looks like, I may not be posting much around the middle of December. I have to see how some things work out first.
Just wanted to give you all a heads up on that one.
