I don’t know about any of you, but I have been in full summer-relaxation mode lately. (If you’re still in school….YIKES! That’s a long semester!…Head over to THIS POST, if you need some motivation to get through exams and end-of-the-year sh*t)
I have spent the last two weeks either sitting on my a**, or going out and doing fun and relaxing things.
What I’ve Been Up To:
- Hanging out with friends I haven’t seen since March
- Reading some great books (I will post a list, if you want)
- Doing my yearly ‘Beauty Haul’ (Again, I will post about this)
- Swimsuit shopping
- Catching up on must-watch TV shows (Loving The 100, Graceland, and Supernatural)
- Planning vacations
- Planning LBH updates (Hint: Stay tuned for surprises!)
Yeah, so I have gotten some stuff done, though most of it is leisure (except for The 100 because every CW show ruins my life….you know what i’m talking about if you watch the show)
My workout schedule was, basically, non-existent in these last two weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I did some quick workouts maybe 2-3 times per week (and by quick, I mean I decide to do some squats and lunges while eating some Lays chips).
I don’t know if this happens to anyone else but, if I don’t work out or eat too unhealthy for a certain period of time, my body starts to crave healthy food.
And by crave, I mean full-on, make the 30-minute, traffic-filled drive to Whole Foods because I need some Blueprint Juice and hot plantains RIGHT NOW!
So, after making three trips, in two weeks, I decided I needed a change (sure…it may have, also, had something to do with me not wanting to spend $8 for one bottle of juice…possibly ?)
I wanted to make my own detox juice. Something that was really easy to make and really good for your body.
I remembered scrolling through one of my favorite blogs, The Skinny Confidential, and finding a detox drink post. (I know I have talked about TSC 58375966087483 times…..get used to it!)
Anyways, I headed over to TSC and looked for the post and, lo and behold, I found it!
Now, I made Lauryn’s version and it was a little too much for me (anyone who reads TSC knows Lauryn is pretty extreme with her cayenne pepper and spices), so I changed some things around and adapted my own version of the drink. Mine is a little bit more watery and citrus-y so, if you prefer a more spicy and extreme drink, check out Lauryn’s version.
♥ Summer Detox Water ♥
- Juice from 1/2 a Grapefruit
- 1/2 tbs of Apple Cide Vinegar
- 2-3 tsp of Cayenne Pepper
- 1 tsp of Turmeric Powder
- 5 sprigs of Mint
Squeeze the juice into whatever your drinking out of (I use a 20oz mason jar), then add the apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper and turmeric powder. Put the mint sprigs in and shake well. Fill with ice and water. Shake the container up one more time, to mix everything together. Done!
It’s such a refreshing way to detox. The drink acts as a diuretic (you’re going to be peeing a sh*t ton, after you drink this) and flushes toxins and other gunk out of your system. It can help speed up your metabolism and, in my experience, eliminates a ton of bloating.
(All credit for TSC Pink Detox Drink, except for the adapted ingredient measurements and directions, goes to Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential)
I have been drinking this for three days now, and I have noticed less bloating and my body just feels a lot cleaner and more refreshed.
Just wanted to share that with you babes!
