Winter Skincare feat. Beautycounter

December 12, 2016

Hi there!

So, finals week just started (Yikes!). I’ve been super busy with projects and assignments, lately.

Kee[ing that in mind, along with my usually Xmas-themed posts, I’ll also be doing a few posts on stress and keeping yourself together (as if I know how to do that haha….but really)

Anyways, on with the post.

I’ve been promising to do a post for you guys, with my updated skincare routine, and I’m just getting around to it now.

So, here it is!

As you know (if you’ve been reading LBH for a while), my skincare routine changes by season.

Yeah, it kinda sucks.

I have to reevaluate my skincare every time the weather changes. One minute my skin will be pretty an nice, and the next minute….BOOM! An issue just pops up and acts like it’s been there the entire time.

Recently, I discovered the brand Beautycounter (I gave some background in my last post HERE).

They only use kind ingredients in their products and are pretty reasonably priced, which is so hard to find.

The two products I have been using by Beautycounter are the face scrub and the charcoal mask. Let me just say, these two are LIFESAVERS!

The scrub is really gentle and uses exfoliating beads, instead of any harsh or sharp particles. It makes your skin feel super soft and it doesn’t dry out your face. I hate when my face feels stripped after cleaning it, so this is perfect. It leaves that soft, moisturized feeling.

The mask is magic. Like, it’s literally magic in a bottle. It’s a mix of clay and charcoal, to draw out all the nasty stuff in your pores. All you do is spread it over your face and leave it for 10 minutes. Wash it off and BOOM! My skin always feels and looks really nice after this mask. It was actually surprising how glow-y my skin looked right after I used it. Usually, masks irritate my skin a little and I have to put them on at night, so my face isn’t red during the day. I can use this one, and then go right out.

In terms of face wash, I’m actually still looking for a winter one. In the mean time, I’m still using my Cetaphil gentle cream cleanser, which always does the job.

I’ve been using a super intense moisturizer. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s flakey skin. It’s worse than oily skin! I just don’t like the way it looks or feels (I don’t think anyone does).

I’ve been using First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It’s a thick, creamy moisturizer that is made for dry skin and eczema. It’s perfect for winter because it protects your skin from harsh winds and keeps it hydrated.

I still use my Clarisonic religiously. Seriously, I don’t think I could live without it.

In terms of makeup remover, I don’t know where I am. Sometimes, I’ll use grapeseed oil and other times, I’ll use these cute little makeup wipes I found at Trader Joe’s.

Honestly, it depends how tired I am and how much I feel like putting into my skincare routine.

The last thing I’ve started doing recently is using Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner.

This is a really well-known method (Scarlett Johansson uses it and look at her!). The ACV balances the PH of your skin, regulating oil production and dissolving any impurities. It might sting a little and it doesn’t smell like flowers (no, it smells pretty weird actually), but it does the job.

Alrighty everyone. I will be posting later this week, with stress tips for finals and gift-guides for the holidays!
